A Managed Service Plan has many advantages to your business, especially in this current climate:

In this article we cover:

  1. The difference between an MSP and ‘break-fix’ support.
  2. How an MSP works.
  3. Some of the things covered by an MSP

Firstly lets do a quick review:

We wrote about what a Managed Service Plan (MSP) is a while back (read the full article here), but here we answer some of the most common questions.

How does an MSP differ from the break-fix model?

The ‘break-fix’ model of IT support is when you call an IT company when something breaks, and they come and fix it on an adhoc pay by hour model. There is no ongoing support or preventative security measures taken.

In contrast, an MSP provides strategic, proactive IT support to your business on an ongoing, consistent basis.

The IT Centre Managed Service Plan is designed to provide specific IT support to enable you to conduct your normal day to day business for a set monthly fee that you can budget on for the term of the agreement.

What is covered in a Managed Service Plan?

Although the exact specifics will be unique to each individual business, this is a generic overview of some of the things that are covered:

  • Software licenses: including; Microsoft 365 premium, ESET Protect Complete managed security, 365 backups and password management system.
  • Remote Monitoring and Management of servers and workstations.
  • Instant Remote support capability.
  • Priority Remote Support and onsite support.
  • Security including: MultiFactor Authentication, Anti Spam and more.
  • Management – Regular business and hardware reviews, plus advice and guidance.
  • Priority – As an MSP client you receive priority care.

In Summary:

Whilst the above is by no means a comprehensive list of what is included in an MSP agreement, it offers you an insight. The best next step is to contact us for a meeting, where we can discuss your specific business requirements, and talk through what is best for you.

In this current environment, the biggest advantage of being on a Managed Service Plan is that you know that your security is taken care of on a consistent and ongoing basis. Whilst nothing can ever offer 100% guaranteed security, due to the escalation of cyber security threats, having consistent cover may mean that cyber criminals move on to an easier target.
